Avaz Group Supports New UK Launch With
Its XML-Based Transcription Platform, Avaz ATERA |

ATLANTA, GA - May 25, 2006 - Avaz Group LLC, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, announced today that its digital transcription platform, Avaz ATERA, was chosen by Doctors Evidence Ltd, a major supplier of medico-legal report services across England and Wales, headquartered in Birmingham, UK.
Doctors Evidence is expanding its offering to medical transcription, the process that converts medical records dictated by doctors and others (including history and physical reports, clinic notes, office notes, operative reports, consultation notes, discharge summaries, letters, psychiatric evaluations, laboratory reports, x-ray reports and pathology reports) into medical reports. Although well established in the US, this type of service is still relatively new in the UK.
"We see a rapidly changing transcription environment in the UK," says Amer Amin, President and CEO of Doctors Evidence, "as more and more UK healthcare providers discover the benefit of moving from a paper-based to an electronic patient documentation system. Avaz' experience in digital documentation technology will help us to quickly enter this space." He added that the new service is offered under the trademark of MacBeal Transcription.
The Avaz ATERA transcription platform, offered to transcription service organizations (TSOs) around the world, consists of four major components:
a) digital dictation capture via telephone of hand-held dictation device;
b) automated routing of encrypted voice files to the customer's transcription staff (or outsourced providers);
c) web-enabled transcription tools that enable greater efficiency among the transcription staff; and
d) web-based report (or data) delivery via secure electronic interfaces or ASP
The power behind Avaz ATERA is its digital platform, located at Avaz' data-center in Marietta, GA. The whole system is managed and monitored via web-enabled 'dashboard', making it location independent. The web-enabled interface allows a TSO to go live as soon as the branding is completed - usually within 2 weeks.

Another unique strength of Avaz ATERA is that the system has been designed from the ground up around XML, a popular standard for creating markup languages which describe the structure of data. Adds Mr. Kauka:
"Simply stated, using XML to structure the delivered transcripts allows us to accommodate any data exchange requirements a customer may have, including future standards. This moves us significantly ahead of other transcription technology providers -- most of them use MS Word or PDF files to deliver reports back to customers."
XML is becoming important for healthcare providers, who routinely must transfer medical records to data systems such as billing or EMR (electronic medical record) applications. The use of XML makes such exchanges easy and reduces the need to write expensive interfaces between various medical information systems.
